There is a beautiful enclosed bowling green hidden away in the upper park. The bowling team Eastville and Whitehall, play from the start of April to the end of September. The game is one of skill that takes minutes to learn and a lifetime to master. Each ball has a weighted bias to allow the ball to curve towards the Jack, and the closest balls to the Jack score the most points.
There has been a bowling team at Eastville Park since 1910, originally playing on 2 greens. Only one green is active at the moment next to the historical buildings.
If you would like to try the game of bowls, come and join in on an open day where you can try the game for free and be taught by the current team. Tea, coffee, juice, and cake available to all.
Upcoming Open Days:
Bowling season closed until 2020: please contact email@example.com for more information.
Bowling is an inexpensive and enjoyable lawn game that gets you moving while enjoying life in the slow lane. Despite having a reputation as being for pensioners, anyone can play, and you move more than you would imagine!
Membership costs just £50 for the first year, £60 normally, and helps towards the cost of maintaining the bowling green. Games are just £1.50 to play, and you play as little or as often as you please as and when you are available. Matches are normally played on Saturday afternoon or Tuesday afternoon from 2:30pm, either at the home or away team green. There is no obligation to play all games, only the ones you choose.
